Advanced secure development

Deep dive into advanced cyber security concepts relating to the design and development of secure multi-tiered systems.

Technology specific – offered for .NET, Java, or PHP

Minimizing the severity of potential vulnerabilities by incorporating security into the design of a system is the most cost-effective way to protect it, along with its data and the organizations that use it.

The module’s advanced technical hands-on training dives deep into common design and development flaws that lead to devastating security vulnerabilities. It provides experienced developers the opportunity to observe how technical flaws in a system’s design are often magnified by flaws in the development and deployment stages, as well as via business processes. Participants will also explore techniques for introducing cyber security solutions into every step of the development lifecycle.

Topics covered in this training module include:

  • Common attack techniques
  • Assessing risk
  • Designing secure infrastructures
  • Multi-layered security concepts
  • Least-privilege principals
  • Asset management and protection
  • How to fail securely
  • Authentication and authorization
  • Input validation and sanitization
  • Advanced cryptography
  • OS and environment security
  • Security code reviews
  • Incident response and recovery
Duration: Three days (may be split into six half-day sessions)
Type: Lecture and hands-on training
Recommended group size: Up to 30 participants
Target audience:
  • Development team leaders
  • Experienced software development team members
Prerequisites:
  • Experienced developers in the relevant technology based on the specific course (.NET, Java, or PHP)
